Steve Jobs of Apple introduced us to the much anticipated and very cool iPad last week. It is my new obsession and I love it. I want one yesterday and really do not think that my life will be complete until I have one.
It was created to bridge the gap between smart phone and laptop, it is not a replacement for a laptop. The product that currently is trying to fill that gap is the netbook. Well net books are very small in all areas. Small power, small storage, small battier life. The netbook will really only compete with the iPad on paper. After that people will see that the iPad had a great deal more to offer.
One other product that is currently on the market that will be competing with the iPad is the Amazon Kindle (two models the Kindle and the KindleDX). This is a cool product and will actually compete with the iPad in the eBook market (Unlike the lack of true competition for the netbook). The Kindle is a eBook reader. Great for those who love reading and read a lot. Instead of taking may books or newspaper that take up space and are very heavy. The iPad has an pretty cool eBook feature about it that I am sure will give the Kindle a run for it money. If you are just looking for an eBook reader then the Kindle may be a better options. Both are great products.
The iPad is very different from just being a large size iPod Touch. Apple has also made new iWork software that will work on the iPad. Just like iPhone and iPod it will sync with PC and Mac.
Any way i just love it and cannot wait until i have my own. The release date is March for WiFi and the 3G models will be available in April.
