Best Early Birthday Ever!

Last Friday was a great surprise for me. Here is what happened...

Early on in the week my friend asked if i wanted to go to the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. She knows that i would not turn down ticket to go there so i said yes. Then i had a little drama in my head. I was picking up my parents at the airport that afternoon. I asked her what time the CPO was and told her about the airport thing. I told her that it might be a better idea if she used the tickets for someone else. What if the plane did not land on time and I was really late.
She still did not know when the show was. I check the web site to see what time the performance started. It started at 8 and my parents' flight landed at 5:30. I told my friend about the performance time and she seemed not to care too much. i found it a little strange but oh well. As long as the flight was on time all was good.
I had been telling everyone what i was doing Friday night. I am sure that people were getting tired of hearing it. I even had a conversation with my friend's mother (who is the person that gave us the tickets) about the performance and thanked her for the tickets.
Then Friday came. I got up and checked the status of my parents flight. There was as storm in the city the night before and many of the evening flights were delayed. So far so good. Then i turned my blackberry on and there was a message from my friend. She said that the first chair was having a little wine and cheese type thing before the performance started at 6:30 and she really wanted to go. I thought that would be really cool and really wanted to go also but if really would be tight even if my parents' flight was on time, assuming that it would be for that matter. I reminder her about me picking up my parents and she said that we would just go after i dripped them off and my place and picked her up. it was a pretty regular day. Had coffee with the wonderful Training In Motion ladies from my old work. Had a great workout just after with another friend.
Got back to the locker after my workout and i had a Happy Birthday text message on my phone. Little weird because my birthday was not for another 3 weeks. I messaged her back saying that it was next month. So weird so random.
Went home to have a little nap and to check the status of my parents' flight. It was 30 min ahead of schedule. There were in the air and making great time. A quick nap then get ready (i wanted to wear something nice to the CPO) and then off to get my folks. I had already made dinner for them so that they could just eat and not have worry about going out. I told me friend what was happening just so she knew what was going on. To be sure she would be ready and would just run out to the car so we could head downtown.
My parents' and i were in the car and heading by to my place at 5:40, which was great. They landed early so we made good time getting bags and getting out of the airport. Sent a quick message to my friend again. about 35 min to my place then another 10 to get her, then 25 to the CPO. I drove fast (but safely) back to my place and got them settled in. Called my friend but she did not answer so i send her a message just saying 10 min.
Pulled up on her driveway to fetch her and called her to let her know that i was outside. No answer again.
Left the car running and went the door. Rang the door bell and she answered. i told her to hurry up and grab her coat so we could get going. it was about 6:40 and we could be at the CPO by 7 if we hurried. She then grabbed my hand and pulled me into her kitchen, "Can i just show you the mess that my sister made in the kitchen." I thought odd time to she me but whatever just make her happy so we can go. Climbed down the step that leads into the kitchen.
The lights went on and i heard, "SURPRISE, Happy Birthday!" I turn and there was some of the greatest people in the world to me. OMG i was shocked i had no idea! i was all smiles. Funny thing is i had to run outside and turn off the car.
It was a great night! Great wonderful people in my life, we had a wonderful salmon dinner and then we went dancing all night! Such a great surprise birthday party.

a couple reason why it was so early;
- too close to the date i would expect something
- this is the week end my friends parents were out of town so we could have the party at her house
- most important reason is another good friend of ours is pregnant and due a couple days before my birthday. I would not have the new baby taking my thunder!
