Phrase (definition of the week)!

I am always trying to learn new things. Something as easy as a new word or phrase that I can use to expand my knowledge of the english language.

That being said here is the first phrase to add to your conversations. It is especially appropriate as it is the Calgary Stampede and people are partying like crazy all night long.

Social Jetlag (noun):
a type of jetlag (the feeling of being very tired after your body clock has been interrupted) which makes getting back to work harder after a long festive break, such as a holiday or weekend. Also know as the 'Mondays'.

Social jetlag occurs when our body's biological clock and our actual sleep schedules don't match up. During the week when we are working or at school we tend to be more regular and scheduled in our Monday - Thursday (and most of Friday) activities. Get up and go to bed at similar times.

By the time we get to the weekend or on holidays that schedule is forgotten. We get up later and stay up later. The Social Jetlag comes in upon the force of return to the regular or norm. I never sleep well on Sunday night to monday mornings because of the change in pattern during the weekend.
That is Social Jetlag.
